Lord of the death

In the vast tapestry of ancient Egyptian beliefs, death wasn’t solely ruled by a singular, chilling figure. Instead, two deities shared the responsibility, each offering unique aspects. Osiris, often hailed as the “Lord of the Dead,” reigned over the underworld, judging the deceased and embodying resurrection, fertility, and even life itself. Green-skinned and partially mummified, he symbolized not just death, but the hope of transformation and eternal life. Anubis, on the other hand, served as the “God of the Dead,” meticulously guiding and protecting souls on their journey. Depicted with the head of a jackal, he oversaw embalming rituals, weighed hearts during judgment, and ensured a smooth passage into the afterlife. Together, these figures weren’t harbingers of fear, but rather divine companions on life’s final chapter, offering judgment, protection, and the glimmer of eternal existence.
